The unique Saudi Camel Festival is back this year

The Crown Prince Camel Festival, the biggest camel sports event in the world, is here. Travellers come from across the globe to witness the festival that is already running and is going to go on until September 14, 2019. This year, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Musaed, President, Saudi Camel Federation, unveiled the largest ever model of a camel at the festival. You can check out the statue at King Faisal Park in the camel village at Taif.
Leading the front in both domestic and international tourism, the ongoing Saudi Camel Festival is quite exceptional and will give you an insight into the country’s culture and beauty. The massive festival will see the participation of 12000 camels from across Saudi Arabia alongside other Gulf and Arab countries. The camels are going to compete in 439 categories for prizes, which are worth a total of $11.2 million. The festival aims at displaying and promoting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The city of Taif, where it is being hosted is set to become a top tourist destination in the country, thanks to the festival. It is, in fact, one of the oldest camel breeding places in the Arab world.

Camels are, of course, the star attraction of this festival. You will find camel owners from across the middle-east coming in to compete for the first position and, of course, get the grand prize. Camel racing is essential on the cards at the festival and is a traditional sport in this part of the world.
