This old historical neighborhood of Athens certainly gets its fair share of visitors as it is one of the most attractive places in the city. Small winding roads connect the neighbourhood, while red-tiled roof houses and gardens line them. Besides the beautiful houses and gardens, tourists will find plenty of small museums, restaurants and tourist souvenir shops. There is also a feeling of being on a small island here, rather than in the middle of a bustling city as most of the roads are closed to vehicles, besides the occasional delivery truck or motorbike bending the rules. We suggest spending the day here by dropping by the cozy cafes for coffee on the sidewalk, browsing for souvenirs and taking photos of the stark white homes as well as the hanging flowers. Plaka’s summer’s are breezy , thus giving a great respite from the heat. The locals are friendly and they often gatherto socialise and dance in the evenings.
