The opulent Alexander Palace of Saint Petersburg is to reopen in 2020

Soon, you will be able to take a look into the fascinating world of Russian royalty. A former palatial home of a Russian tsar is set to open for visitors next summer, but before that, it will see renovation costing two billion rubles. The palace in question is called the Alexander Palace, and is located in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.
Alexander Palace of Saint Petersburg was once the home of Nicholas II, the emperor of Russia. Nicholas II was, in fact, the last emperor of Russia, and it was during his reign that the Russian empire fell. The tsar and his family left the palace to go into exile in Serbia in 1917. Later, he and his wife, along with the rest of the family and the servants were executed in 1918. According to reports, the palace was used by the military during World War II.
The palace was built by architect Giacomo Quarenghi between 1792 and 1796. The Alexander Palace is actually located on the outskirts of Saint Petersburg, which was actually the former imperial capital. The renovation work for the palace has been going on since 2012, and now the first eight rooms will open in the summer of 2020. As per reports, the rooms that are going to open are Mauve Boudoir, which was the tsar’s favourite room, along with the bathing chamber that has a Moorish-style design.
