Japan has devised a new plan to help spread awareness regarding the deadly coronavirus. It is a mascot, a big fluffy cat mascot called Koronon. Japan has had numerous mascots for various reasons, as seen in the past, and this time a mascot is being used for educating the public about COVID-19.
The Koronon first made its appearance in public back in September 5, 2020. It is still being used as a mode of delivering masks to people on the road, and to spread awareness. It wears a mask, and is sometimes also seen wearing a face shield. With a big X over the word COVID-19 on its belly, the mascot is certainly a crowd favourite.
The Koronon mascot is the work of Al-pha Co., which is an event management company based in Tokyo.
Koronon, which means no corona, can also be booked for schools, and offices, wherever the need arises. The goal of such a mascot is to reduce the spread of the virus.
