The City Hall is among the most visited tourist attractions of Stockholm. Its perfect setting of a 100 m high tower, right by water makes it one of the most iconic buildings of Stockholm. It is from the City Hall that the administrative work of the capital is controlled; it also houses many offices including the Municipal Council. The city hall is also known for its grand ceremonial halls and inimitable pieces of art. Hundreds of events take place at the City Hall annually, one of them being the world famous Nobel Prize banquet that takes place here every year on 10th December. Guided tours to City Hall are available throughout the year, except for certain important events. Stroll through their main ballroom—the Blue Hall or get enchanted with the glass and gold covered walls of the Golden Hall (also Gyllene Salen). Don’t forget to go up the City Hall Tower that stretches 350 ft above sea level to enjoy stunning views of Stockholm. An elevator will take you through the halfway of the tower, where a small museum with replicas of City Hall's statues and busts are on display.
