To commemorate the inauguration of the Kalaburagi airport, the Bengaluru-Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) airline service will start its operations from November 22.
Due to the Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) airport starting its operations, North-east Karnataka will be connected by air to Bengaluru and other cities of India under the central government’s budget-friendly UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik)-Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).
The Kalaburagi Airport will serve passengers visiting tourist destinations like Sharana Basaveshwara Temple, Buddha Vihar, Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah and Gulbarga Fort. The foundation stone for the phase 1 of Kalaburagi airport was laid down in 2008 by the then Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. The airport has been constructed by the Karnataka State Public Works Department (KSPWD) and it will be operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
A trial landing was done at the airport’s runway in August 2018.
The Star Air Flight will leave from Bengaluru at 12:20 PM and reach Kalaburagi airport at 1:25 PM. The return trip will start at 1:55 PM and end at 3:00 PM at BENGALURU. The airline will operate three days a week on Monday, Friday and Saturday. A Star Air’s 50-seater advanced aircraft will flew the passengers. The airline has been operating flights on UDAN routes and serves cities like Delhi-NCR (Hindon), Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Tirupati, Hubballi, and Belagavi.
