As you come out of the north gate of the Forbidden City, you can spot a small hill and a park around it across the road. Jingshan Hill was created from the soil which was dug out to create a moat around the Forbidden City. It is worth climbing up this hill to enjoy the panoramic view of the Imperial Palace from the top. You can actually spot layers and layers of halls from that height. The vantage point also offers stunning views of the surrounding areas, including Beihai Park in the west and Drum and Bell Towers in the north. The park around the hill is good for a relaxing stroll where you can find many locals rehearsing for opera or some cultural show. Visit to the park is a great way to end the trip to the palace.
