Tashi Jong is a Tibetan craft community, around 12 km from Palampur on the way to Baijnath Temple. Tashi Jong is a Tibetan word for auspicious valley. Khampagar Monastery, the main attraction, was founded in 1958 by Drukpa Kagyu lineage. Visit this hidden paradise to spend some quiet time with yourself in the serene and unhurried atmosphere. Gorgeous intricate paintings in bright colours adorn the walls of this beautiful monastery. If you happen to be around Buddha Purnima, do not miss the special prayer and offerings that start early in the morning. Do not plan a visit on Sunday as the monastery remains closed on this day.
