Taktsang monastery, also known as the Tiger's Nest, is located on a precipitous cliff, about 900 m above the Paro Valley in Bhutan. The rock slopes are very steep−almost vertical−and the monastery buildings are built into the rock face. Though it looks formidable, the monastery complex has access from several directions, such as the northwest path through the forest, from the south along the path used by devotees, and from the north. A mule track leading to it passes through pine forest that is colourfully festooned with moss and prayer flags. On many days, clouds shroud the monastery and give an eerie feeling of remoteness.

High above the Paro valley, this monastery – known as the Tigress ’s Nest perches on a rocky mountainside at 3,000m. It was built in the 8th century, when legend has it the 2nd Buddha, Guru Rimpoche, meditated here, having flown from Kurtoe valley on the back of one of his consorts who had taken the form of flying tigress. To Buddhist pilgrims this is one of the most sacred sites in the Himalayas, to anyone it has to be one of the most spectacular.<br/>I make hike with every group or individual while being the Tour leader or guide.I am always here for Travel Guide & travel Advice.Write me and be informedRead More
