India’s most popular UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Taj Mahal, now has two mobile air purifiers to tackle the ongoing air pollution in India. As India’s air quality index reaches dangerous levels, cities such as Delhi, and Agra are struggling to cope with the problem. But now two mobile air purifiers have been installed at Taj Mahal for the benefit of tourists coming to see this marvel.
The construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631 under the rule of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The structure was built to house the tomb of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. It has since been considered a sign of love, and is revered across the world. The structure also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan. Some 20000 artisans worked on the structure, and it was headed by the emperor’s court architect, Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.
With the air quality index reaching dangerous levels in north Indian cities, the step could give travellers some peace of mind to travel to Agra to see the incredible Taj Mahal.
