Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple in Bangalore is amongst those very few temples in the world that are dedicated to Sun God. This place of worship was built by Shri Patel Krishna Reddy in 1995 and inaugurated by Sri Sri Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Sree Siddaganga Mutt. Displaying a typical Chola style of architecture, the temple is one of the most revered places of worship in the city. The 3.25 feet high idol of Lord Suryanarayana was brought here all the way from Badrinath. Apart from Sun God, devotees can also see idols of other gods like Vaishnavi, Nagaraja and Panchamukhi Ganesha, to name a few. Along with religious celebrations, the temple performs yeoman service for common people which includes teaching Bharatanatyam dance to children. An annual fair is also held here on Rathasapthami Day when the 32 feet tall chariot is brought out and thousands of devotees pull it. Do remember to visit Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple, one of the popular shrines in Bangalore.
