Indonesia has imposed new travel restrictions for people who have travelled to Coronavirus-hit destinations, South Korea, Iran and Italy, considering the rise in the increase of COVID-19 cases all around the world.
Retno also told the press that the call has been taken after a report from the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that there has been an increase of cases outside China, especially in three countries: Iran, Italy and South Korea.
This new policy will pose a problem to people who have travelled to Lombardi, Venetto, Emilia-Romagna, Marche and Piedmont regions in Italy; Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do in South Korea and Tehran, Qom and Gilan in Iran.
Reportedly, people who have travelled to the aforementioned regions will have to furnish a valid health certificate that is authorised and issued by the health authorities or else they will be allowed entry or transit in Indonesia.
Passengers visiting Indonesia from the three nations that have tested positive for COVID-19 are supposed to fill in a Health Alert Card (HAC) issued by the Indonesian Health Ministry.
Indonesian citizens who have visited the three destinations recently will have to compulsorily go through medical examinations at the point of entry.
The Coronavirus infection started in China’s Wuhan district, and after claiming several lives in the country, it has spread across the world in 76 countries. The virus has now spread across Chile, Argentina, Poland and Ukraine as well.
