India and Bangladesh want its citizens to travel without visa now. The two neighbouring nations are looking forward to visa-free administration as implemented among many European countries like France and Germany, as told to the press by Bangladesh high commissioner to India, Syed Muazzem Ali, at the deputy high commission on Tuesday. The occasion was Vijay Diwas celebrations during which a programme was held. The elderly dignitary revealed that India and Bangladesh are jointly employed on a World Bank project to accomplish hassle-free travel of Indo-Bangla citizens without passport, and instead, use the Indian Aadhaar card number and the Bangladesh national registry.

Muazzem Ali, however, taking account of his ripe age and the time needed to execute the project, speculated that he might not live enough to witness India and Bangladesh turn into countries without visa. "It can take up to 10 years for implementing this system,” said Ali. He added that the Indian Aadhaar card does not state the citizenship of the holder and it is primarily a biometric card. Therefore, a special committee has been put together to work on the changes needed to implement the no-visa policy.
He predicted with much hope that in near future, denizens over 65 years of age shall be allowed to travel without visa, and they shall be receiving a visa for 5 years without any delay. Patients and minor children will also be able to enjoy this advantage.
