The complex, constructed from the 1st century BCE to the 10th century CE, contains viharas, chaityas, sculptures, and reliefs created by Buddhist monks and followers. The Kanheri Caves, also known as the Kanheri Buddhist Monuments, hold significant historical and architectural importance. Its remarkable rock-cut architecture is something that easily captivates one’s attention. These sculptures represent the Buddhist architectural style prevalent during the period of their construction, that is, 1st century BCE to the 10th century CE.
