Travel as you wish, make (or don't) make an itinerary, eat at Michelin-rated restaurants or pick-up stalls, hike to your heart's content or self-drive across a country--solo travel is all this and much more. Often seen as a mark of freedom (and rightly so), solo travel has some challenges too, for instance safety and bills that could've been otherwise shared. But, if you are a solo traveller or are about to embark on your first solo trip, these places are just for you, safe, convenient, easy to commute around and affordable than a lot of other places.
Japan
Japan is one of the safest countries in the world. If it's your first international getaway alone, this wonderful country could very well be it. Efficient public transport (get that JR Pass pls), friendly and helpful local, incredible food and so many different experiences, from beaches to forests to urban cities to quaint villages--this is a country made for solo travellers.
Iceland
The Land of Fire & Ice, Iceland is for those in love with the great outdoors. From volcanoes and caves to beaches, waterfalls, geysers and more, there is a lot to do here. It's also been voted as one of the safest countries on the planet so you can travel at ease here.
Ireland
With settings that are straight off Jane Austen romances, Ireland is as beautiful as a place can be. Irish people are some of the friendliest people you can possible run into; of course, if you love sarcasm, there's nothing better than Irish humour. From cinema-like walks to stunning landscapes to dreamy pubs and promised safety, this is a great place to explore alone.
Netherlands
Everything in the Netherlands is the stuff that solo travellers' best dreams are made of. It's a backpackers' haven and there are high chances that you might your start your trip alone but come back with a bunch of friends! Warm, friendly, young crowd will welcome you with all fervour to this place, and you would have nothing to complain about.
Botswana
Botswana is often hailed as one of the safest destinations in the Africa. If you are keen to explore the wilderness and its many charms in Africa, start with Botswana. It is also home to some of the world's best wilderness lodges to make you feel at home and maybe, splurge on a trip like nowhere else.
New Zealand
If you have felt attracted to the unending charms of New Zealand but never found a travel buddy for this one, set out alone! It's one of those countries that feel like being cut out for solo travellers. It's another favourite with backpackers from all across the world and is a place that will lure you back, again and again.

Singapore is often hailed as one of the safest and easiest countries for travellers. You can easily roam around Singapore alone, and explore its famous food markets, natural wonders, culture and more, all alone.
Vietnam
It's one of the most budget-friendly countries in this list and is loved by solo travellers from across the world. The beaches here are delightful, sceneries unforgettable, great train routes, and a very impressive variety of hostels to choose from... What more can a solo traveller wish for!
