Dumas: The Indian beach which is said to be haunted by restless souls

Located along the Arabian Sea in the state of Gujarat, Dumas Beach is not just a picturesque destination but also one of India's most infamous haunted sites. Dumas Beach is situated about 21 kilometres southwest of the bustling city of Surat. Unlike the typical golden or white sands found on most beaches, Dumas Beach is known for its distinctive black sand

The beach's haunting reputation is steeped in local folklore and legends. Historically, Dumas Beach served as a Hindu burial ground. Locals believe that the spirits of those cremated here linger, contributing to the numerous reports of paranormal activities. Visitors have recounted eerie experiences, including hearing disembodied whispers, feeling sudden chills, and witnessing inexplicable movements in the sand.


One of the most persistent legends is the tale of people who venture out for a stroll along the beach at night, never to return. Some say the restless spirits call out to these night-time walkers, leading them away from the safety of the populated areas.
