A spectacularly beautiful monument which is actually the tomb of Akbar the Great, or to put it chronologically, the grandfather of the chap who built the Taj Mahal, or had it built to be more correct, I doubt he actually lifted so much as a brick. As if the beauty of the architecture isn’t enough (seriously, if it wasn’t for the Taj Mahal, people would flock here, it should be a UNESCO site in its own right), it is also surrounded by beautiful gardens which have black buck and peacock roaming around. I think it’s more romantic than the Taj, and I wasn’t the only one, several courting couples had managed to sneak away from prying eyes and were enjoying the ambience of the setting. The entry fee at INR100 for foreigners is also a lot cheaper than the Taj, it definitely got my vote. Oh, and it also has some pretty amazing acoustics, they say walls have ears and at this place they certainly do; the explanation I’ll leave for you to discover for yourselves.
