Sikandar Bagh

The beautiful villa and garden of Sikandar Bagh was constructed by Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh in 1800. Sprawling across an area of about 4.5 acres, the garden is fenced by a wall with a doorway and corner bastions. It is now home to the National Botanical Research Institute of India and is counted amongst the most spectacular gardens in the city. There is a small pavilion where a number of cultural activities like dances and plays were held earlier. Though the main gate of the garden remains locked all the time, a small side gate is kept open for visitors.
