The prospect of not being able to reach your desired destination is unbearable, and your unconfirmed Rajdhani Express Train ticket is driving you nuts. You need to get away without any cancellation, stat, without draining your nerves looking for the best option. Do not worry, as the Indian Railways has just come up with a fine solution to this problem. Read ahead.According to a proposal forwarded by Mr. Ashwani Lohani, the chairman of the Railways Board and the ex-Chairman of Air India, those passengers having an unconfirmed AC-I and AC-II tickets in hand can soon fly to the destination of their choice only by paying the difference in the airfare and the train ticket.

The Rajdhani Express Train service connects New Delhi with several metropolitan cities of India. For its evergreen popularity, a lot of people strive to book a seat in Rajdhani either way in advance before their planned day of travel or at the last minute. Apparently, in this demand-supply tussle, a lot of passengers are left stranded when their seats are not sanctioned by the railways.

Interestingly, this idea was conceived by Mr. Lohani when he was the chairman of Air India. But, the Indian Railways could not take it seriously and failed to act appropriately on it. Now that Mr. Lohani is the chief of the Indian Railways, he has reinitiated the talks to resolve the aforementioned issue.
The strategy in the event of unconfirmed seat shall be to share the personal details of the passenger(s) with Air India. The flight officials can then contact the passengers and offer them an array of airfare deals. It is a sensible solution as there isn’t much difference between the fare of an Air India flight and Rajdhani AC-II tickets, plus they would save time and money which they would have otherwise spent booking flights directly.
