I don’t even remember that if I even visited any ashram before going to Shanthigiri. I considered visiting this one because natives praised about Shanthigiri a lot and strongly recommended a trip to me. I am out of words to describe the calm that prevails in this place. I could just sit there for hours without any thoughts in my mind. We spent almost an hour with Guruji, who told us that the ultimate aim of Shanthigiri is to heal people mentally and physically. We had deep conversations with him about life which were very much enlightening. I felt very light and safe in that environment. After interacting with Guruji, we had traditional Kerala lunch served on banana leaves. There were 2-3 types of curry, vegetables, chutney, pickle, rice, papad, buttermilk, and dessert. It was so scrumptious that I kept asking for more servings again and again. It was the best meal I had during my stay in Thekkady. After lunch, they gave us a tour of ashram garden and also showed us a workshop where the weaving of sarongs was in progress on automatic looms.
