Several countries issue travel advisory for India amid protests over CAA

The UAE Embassy in New Delhi recently issued a travel advisory for its citizens, who are heading to or are in India currently. This advisory comes in the wake of ongoing protests that are taking place in several parts of the country owing to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
The advisory notified the citizens to stay away from crowded places and also to remain alert, and get in touch with the embassy for any additional information.
The US Government has also issued advisory and warned its citizens against visiting the Northeastern states of India because of the protests over CAA.
Thousands of protestors have taken to the streets of Northeast since Wednesday to protest against the CAA, resulting in clashes with the police and turning the situation into chaos. Delhi witnessed a similar kind of situation on Sunday when public buses were burnt down and protestors were dispersed by the police using tear gas. There was, therefore, incidents of injury in both the cases when protestors clashed with the police.
After the United States, Canada has also asked its citizens to avoid ‘non-essential travel’ to Northeast India. As per the travel advisory issued by the Canada Embassy, citizens are advised to avoid travelling to Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Mizoram. The embassy also mentioned that mobile and internet communications have been temporarily suspended, and that transport facilities have also been affected in several parts of the northeast region.
