The much sought-after Schengen visa will be more expensive from now on as its fee is set to rise by 20 Euros. The Schengen visa fee is currently 60 Euros, and it will jump up to 80 Euros, from February 2, 2020. For the first time since 2006, the Schengen Visa fee has been raised.
A Schengen Visa is something that is required for travelling across Europe in 26 countries. This includes countries such as Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, and Spain. The visa fee hike is applicable to travellers from India and all other countries, except the ones with visa facilitation agreement. Even the Schengen Visa fee for children, which currently stands at 35 Euro, will get a hike to 40 Euro, as per reports. However, children below 6 years, and infants, will not be charged.
Additionally, the visa code will also extend the application period for the visa from 3 months to 6 months, before you start your trip. The visa codes were adopted by the European Parliament, and the Council last year.
The 26 European countries combine to form the largest visa-free zone, as this one visa gives you access to them all. The visa does not include the UK and Ireland.
