Sawai Mansingh Stadium, popularly known as SMS, is a huge cricket stadium built during the time of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur. Having a seating capacity of about 30,000 spectators, this stadium came to fame when it played host to the former Pakistan President General Zia-ul-Haq, who was here to see a solitary test match between India and Pakistan during his famous peace project called ’Cricket for Peace’. The stadium went through a major renovation in the year 2006 and a top-notch cricket academy was built here having several well-appointed rooms, halls, gymnasium, swimming pool and restaurant.
