Take a scenic route from the middle of town towards the sea coast, where the Atlantic sea lashes against the shore. There are many sights here and the long lines of beaches are pretty, but one place that stands out is Rosses Point. This is where Yeats and his family were frequent visitors. In the evenings, under a setting sun, the waves are vigorous and strong breezes bring in the distinctive smell of the sea. Standing on a mound here is a giant sculpture of a girl; her arms stretched out to the sea, oozing forlorn beauty. Dominating the shore and visible till afar, there is a sculpture by Jack Yeats that looks stunning.
