One of the most beautiful Hindu temples, Taman Ayun Temple is one of the most famous landmarks of the island and a must visit for all. It is one of the two main water temples of Bali and happens to be part of the Subak irrigation system which dates back to the 9th century and is recognised by UNESCO. One of the most beautiful Hindu temples, Taman Ayun Temple is one of the most famous landmarks of the island and a must visit for all. It is one of the two main water temples of Bali and happens to be part of the Subak irrigation system which dates back to the 9th century and is recognised by UNESCO. Built in 1634 and renovated in 1937, it served as the temple for royalty and offers some fascinating architecture. The temple complex is surrounded by landscaped gardens and rice farms and also has a pond complete with swaying lotus fronds that is a treat for photographers to behold. The temple houses nine fountain jets, one for each deity of Balinese Hinduism. This temple will give you a break from the beach experience in Bali.
