If a long coastal drive from Alleppey is what you are scouring for, Kanyakumari is where you should head to. It is the southernmost tip of peninsular India and is a haven for backpackers. With its reputation as a sunset and sunrise point, Kanyakumari is a major lure for photographers. It is also one of the few places where you can watch a sunset and a rising moon together. Other major attractions here are the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, the Thiruvalluvar Statue, Our Lady of Ransom Church and the 3000 years old Bhagavathy Amman Temple. Read less
