India celebrated Independence Day on August 15, 2019, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech urged Indians to travel to at least 15 domestic tourist destinations by 2022. The idea is to improve tourism in India, with the Prime Minister saying that there is a huge scope to improve tourism in India.
The Prime Minister further said that India has a lot to offer, and we will be able to attract more international tourists by increasing domestic tourism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I know people travel abroad for holidays but can we think of visiting at least 15 tourist destinations across India before 2022, when we mark 75 years of freedom."
