Place de la Concorde

The Place de la Concorde is also known as the Place de la Revolution. It is located towards the end of the famous Champs Elysées. It is a mammoth sized, octagonal square in Paris and encompasses two massive fountains and statues. It is central to several monumental places in Paris such as Arc de Triomphe, Tuileries, Assemblée Nationale and Madeleine. Each corner of this square represents a different French city through various statues. This square has it’s very own history during the French Révolution. It was the execution site during the 1700’s and more memorably known as the place where King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were sent to their deaths. Later it was redesigned to become the square it now is.
