This is the most famous shopping street in Frankfurt and one of the top ten of the city. And this hasn’t just been the case in current times. Did you know, this place was the choice of shoppers and frequently thronged by them as early as the 19th century? Beat that!
However, don’t be misled by its century-long history. Here you will find world’s leading brands, shoulder to shoulder vying for your attention. Whether it is Adidas or H&M, Calvin Klein or Swarovski, be ready to spend money on some of the biggest brands.
It is not just the high-end brands though. Visitors with varied budgets do find something of their interest here. It is also known as the "The Fifth Avenue of Germany.”
Taking its name from the German “Zeile,” meaning row, the name Zeil first implied a row of residential houses. These were later to become a popular marketplace. Before the World War II, many buildings were destroyed and ultimately reconstructed.
Plaza Konstablerwache is in the east while Plaza Hauptwache is in the west, with both of them being major intersections for buses, trams, and trains. If you are coming through subway, then your stops are Hauptwache, U1, U2, U3, U6, and U7.
