One of the two botanical gardens in Frankfurt, this place is spread over an area of 22 hectares. All the botanical items are organised according to their origins. They are houses in free-air greenhouses, containing almost every kind of exotic flora and fauna, the place is a refreshing treat for the eyes.
These greenhouses perfectly replicate climates of the world, ranging from green rainforests to humid monsoon forest. From dry desert to damp mangroves, you can see and know more about nature, and have the unique experience of different climates around the world, all the while being in Palmengarten.
The Goethe Garden is constructed to pay tribute to Frankfurt’s famous poet. The most remarkable work of art perhaps is the palm house, 18 m high, built between 1868 and 1869. It is an iron structure and the oldest building in the gardens. The garden also has artificial rain. You can enjoy the serene atmosphere while sitting on a wooden bench and listening to the sound of water trickling.
The fee for the garden is EUR 7. If you are aboard subway train, your stop will be Bockenheimer Warte (U6, U4, U7).
