Managing Director Chaudhary Abdul Ghafoor informed in a press conference that it will be an achievement to hold such conference where they would also promote soft image of Pakistan on the world tourism forum. He further informed the media that secretary general of the World Trade Organization (WTO) would also be visiting Pakistan in 2018.
Apart from this, the corporation is also asking local and foreign investors to come forward and invest in the sector. Several efforts are also being taken to help Hindu, Buddhists and Sikhs pilgrims coming to Pakistan for religious tourism.
Mr. Ghafoor said, “We are also trying to facilitate domestic tourists, overseas Pakistanis and foreign tourists. I have divided tourism into different sectors like religious, economic, agriculture, sports, culture and medical tourism so that solid steps could be taken to promote all sectors”.
He also requested media specially television channels to promote tourism by stressing majorly on tourist and cultural places to visit in Pakistan. He said the PTDC was going to adopt a comprehensive strategy to promote tourism at the national level. To another question, he expressed the hope that the government would soon release funds to improve the financial situation of the corporation for which efforts were underway.
Not only this, he said that the PTDC has also filed a petition in Islamabad High Court against devolution of corporation. Now they will be signing MoUs with airlines like PIA, Turkish Airline and Thai Air to promote tourism in Pakistan. To make things more visible, a magazine called ‘Amazing Pakistan’ has been published highlighting all the prime activities related to Pakistan tourism.
