Brunico might feel a little bit sleepy for some, but come here in December and you’ll find the town awake and lively with its Christmas market held on the main street, called Via Centrale. Accessed through ancient gates, Via Centrale is the main focus of the town, even when no market is going on. Its coloured medieval facades recreate an atmosphere of the bygone era. Here in Brunico too you’ll find beautiful flowers hanging outside the balconies, as is seen all over South Tyrol. As anywhere in Italy, here also there are many churches with beautiful architecture. We suggest visiting the Neo-Romanesque Parish Church rebuilt several times; the Church of the Holy Spirit restored in 1760 in Baroque style and the Church of the Ursulines. The most recognisable landmark of the town is actually the castle, overlooking the city from the top of a promontory covered with wood. It is also a popular base to go skiing, with many resorts available in the close-by Plan de Corones with 116 km of ski tracks. Besides, it is always on the top of the ranking as the happiest town in Italy.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
