Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau State Historic Site

Ancient temple and hilltop views of the North Shore
Noteworthy for: Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau is the largest religious site on the island of Oahu. Dating back to the 18th century, it was a place of worship and human sacrifice.

Located on the North Shore, Pu'u o Mahuka rewards its visitors with sweeping views of the coast, particularly Shark's Cove and the Waimea Valley. Another plus: it's simple to get here, just turn off the Kamehameha Highway (83) onto Pupukea (Homestead) Road in Haleiwa and follow the signs.
