Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida is the largest of Nusa islands and this beautiful, rugged island is still pretty much untouched and undeveloped with lots of natural beauty to explore and enjoy.
This island was not always a tourist destination as it used to be a prison, but nowadays its stunning beaches, gorgeous limestone cliffs and great scuba diving sites lure a steady trickle of day trippers. Diving and snorkelling is especially good at Manta Point, where you can swim with giant manta rays, and at Crystal Bay where you might even see the world’s largest bony fish—a monstrous sunfish called Mola Mola. Nusa Penida is also a sanctuary for birdlife and is home to the endangered Bali Starling.
There are also many other spots of unique and stunning natural beauty on Nusa Penida, including a natural infinity pool at Angel’s Billabong, vibrant greenery and rolling fields called Bukit Teletubbies, the broken sea Pasih Uwug, spectacular views from Atuh Beach or Banah Cliff.
You can also crawl through a 2-m long tunnel to get inside Giri Putri Cave Temple, a Shiva temple located inside a cave surrounded by beautiful stalactites and limestone formations.
How to reach and where to stay
You can reach Nusa Penida from Sanur, Padang Bai and Benoa Harbour on Bali by both speedboat or slower and cheaper public ferries.
