Not laddoos but brownies and burgers as prasada at this Chennai temple

Seems like even our ‘Gods’ are bored with eating the same old laddoos, pedas, batashas and mishris! Since ages, devotees at most of the Hindu temple have been offering the same sweets as prasad but the Jaya Durga Peetham Temple in Paddapai (a small town near Chennai) decided to break the monotony by serving devotees with global tastes in form of burgers, pastries and brownies, among other things. Breaking the common notion, this temple, devoted to the Hindu goddess Durga has typical Hindu prasada a new, interesting and delicious twist.

As per reports, this Padappai temple instead of serving payasam as prasadam is distributing brownies, burgers and even salads (for the health-conscious devotees). Also, the food that comes here is certified by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The packets have manufacturing and expiry dates printed on them. Quite interestingly, the temple has also installed vending machines for the convenience of devotees, who wish to offer prasada to god. These machines can be found in the premises of the temple. All devotees need to do is buy a token and make a selection. So, burgers, cracker sandwiches, and tomato cherry salads and other such interesting foods are just a token away at this temple!
But this is not enough. The temple has gone a step further by offering ‘birthday cake prasadam’. If you visit the temple on the day of your birthday, you can buy cake as prasad. Sounds fun, right?

According to some senior temple officials, the new prasadam menu is an absolute hit amongst the worshippers as it adds a special touch coming from temple. Well, we certainly don’t mind such delicious changes!
