If you are fond of road trips then it is time for you to rejoice as the much-awaited India-Myanmar-Thailand trilateral highway will soon become a reality. As per reports, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed an agreement to upgrade India-Myanmar Friendship Road in Myanmar. The task is being undertaken in a joint-venture (JV) between Punj Lloyd and Varaha Infra.
"NHAI has signed an agreement for upgradation of Yagyi - Kalewa section in Myanmar to Two-Lane with Earthen Shoulder. The agreement was signed today by NHAI with Punj Lloyd Ltd - Varaha Infra Ltd (JV)," NHAI mentioned in an official statement. This one is country’s second prime international road project, the first being Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) project.
So, the dreams of going on a Thailand road trip from India with friends will happen soon. The mesmerizing driving route will give you some best views of the expansive farmlands and gorgeous hillocks and will transport you to another world.
Though the project was already given to the JV in the year 2017 but the work began this month only. The project includes work on a 120 km section that will go through rocky terrains and the design has several big and small bridges. There will also be 20 bus bays and a passenger shelter and rest area for the convenience of travellers travelling on the route. In addition to this, some of the existing bridges will also undergo some major reconstruction.
