The global warming situation is not going anywhere, hence New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s government is looking to declare a climate emergency. The idea is to push forward the global effort to combat global warming. Ardern’s government will soon put forward this motion regarding climate emergency.
The New Zealand PM said, in a statement, "We’ve always considered climate change to be a huge threat to our region, and it is something we must take immediate action on. Unfortunately, we were unable to progress a motion around a climate emergency in parliament in the last term, but now we’re able to."
Jacinda Ardern who recently returned to power has been instrumental in tackling the Coronavirus situation in the country. Her party has also passed a Zero Carbon Bill, which aims for net zero emissions by 2050.
Currently, India has been tackling Cyclone Nivar, which hit the southern coast of Tamil Nadu. The cyclone which began in the Indian Ocean is the result of climate change in the Indian Ocean. As per the experts, climate change has led to warmer temperatures at sea, which leads to cyclones such as this.
