Don't step into this historic Brooklyn Heights subway station expecting to catch a train. Rather, the New York Transit Museum celebrates the region's public transportation network and highlights all of its ins and outs—including details like subway construction equipment as well as the colours and typography of signage in the stations. One of the shows was Anatomy of a Powerhouse: Electrifying the El, which showcased the history of the 74th Street Powerhouse—at the time an unprecedented feat of engineering that facilitated the subway system's shift to electric trains from steam engines.
