Mumbai airport to merge operations of Terminal 1 and 2 from October 1

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be merging the operations of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 starting from October 1, 2019, for domestic flights.
This move has been planned to ensure the convenience of passengers travelling through Mumbai international airport, thereby benefiting both passengers and airlines at large.
In 2018-2019, the airport catered to more than 48 million passengers and is usually buzzing with travellers. The airport, being one of the busiest in India, has now allocated Terminal 1 with terminal boarding bridges for all airlines. However, while its Terminal 2 operates both domestic and international flights, it currently operates 9 domestic and 50 international airlines. The primary runaway at CSMIA handles more than 46 departures and arrivals per hour, whereas the second runaway is capable of handling 35 flight movements per hour.
The Mumbai international airport’s press release further states that starting October 1, Indigo and GoAir will be operating all domestic flights from T1 and International from T2 while SpiceJet will shift its entire operation to T2. The structural streamline of airlines initiated for the greater benefit and convenience of the passengers.
