There are many reasons to visit Uttar Pradesh, but the fact that it is home to the sacred temples of Lord Ram in Ayodhya has definitely a lot to do with it. This holy, ancient place draws innumerable pilgrims each year and also helps the state tourism earn good profit.

Now, to get a major tourism boost, the state tourism department has come up with a gigantic idea to build the next best thing in the world. Well, the latest plan is to erect Lord Rama’s statue, measuring 100 m in height, on the banks of Sarayu River.
Apparently, the tourism department aims to attract more and more pilgrims to UP, more so, Navya Ayodhya or New Ayodhya. The Ram statue, which is going to be twice as large as the Statue of Liberty located in New York, the United States of America, is a highly ambitious project of the department. According to an Indian newspaper, the height, location and other features of the statue are subject to clearance from the government authorities.

The proposed sketches of Lord Ram statue in Ayodhya have striking similarities with Colossus of Rhodes, a brazen statue of the Greek Sun God Helios that was located at the edge of the Island of Rhodes. The 33 metre-long statue dating back to 280 B.C. was the tallest in the world and was famous as the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
If this dream project turns into reality, the statue will become one of the tallest statues in the world, which as of now Spring Temple Buddha in Henan, China, standing at a height of 153 m is the crown holder in the league.
