The capital city of Belarus, Minsk is somewhere 8 hours far from Moscow by train. A fascinating and modern place, Minsk has a host of attractions for tourists. From cafes, to nightclubs, there is enough to be done here in the capital of Belarus. Minsk has a scarred history, as the city was badly damaged during the WWII, but today it has come out as a beautiful destination with a magnificent history. Visit the Museum of the Great Patriotic to thoroughly realise the implications of war on the city, and to learn about the heroes of the war. Interestingly, Lee Harvey Oswald, the person who allegedly killed US President John F Kennedy, lived here for a couple of years. There are myriad other places of interest to anyone who is fascinated by the Soviet and Lukashenko periods. Also the nightlife is pretty exciting, given its cosmopolitan reach, so be sure to spend some exciting evenings.
