Minnesota now has an International Dark Sky Park

Minnesota’s Voyageur National Park has just been named an International Dark Sky Park, and is now one of the finest places to gaze at the night sky.

The 218000 acre national park is located south of the Canadian border, and has been named an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA).
The Voyageur National Park earned this distinction after taking extensive measures to tackle the issue of light pollution. The park had to meet the standards of the IDA to become an area that must have the distinguished quality of night sky, view of the stars, and also a nocturnal environment. It took a total of two years for the park to be fit for this recognition.
