If you want an authentic Amsterdam experience, then we suggest you marry a local. Yes, you read that right. Marrying a local in Amsterdam is now a possibility, but only for a day. In its latest effort to get tourists and locals to mingle with each other, Amsterdam has now launched a campaign called, “Marry an Amsterdammer for a day.”
You would have to cough up €100 (starting price) for this experience, and choose your soon-to-be bride or groom, and then get married in a mock ceremony. The wedding will be completed with a whole lot of niceties, such as flowers and wedding rings, and have the bride walk down the aisle.
The fake wedding is then followed by a one-day honeymoon, which will involve exploring and experiencing the length and breadth of the beautiful city with your local bride/groom. You will also get to meet family and friends of your spouse, and all the money is going to go to a charity selected by you and your beloved.

The novel idea by the city of Amsterdam focuses on building real connections between locals and tourists, and to allow an enhanced experience for all. Of course, the city is one of the most visited cities in Europe, and last year it welcomed 21 million people from across the world. There has been numerous campaigns launched by the city authorities in the recent past, in order to better their Amsterdam experience, while at the same time keep Amsterdam’s spirit of being a world-class city intact.
