Malta's Prime Minister Robert Abela has made an official announcement that beginning July 1, flights travelling from these following destinations would be able to enter Malta:
In due course, more destinations will be announced, once clearance from the health authorities is done.
People arriving at Malta airport won’t have to undergo a Corona test. Only thermal screening will be done at the airport for the arrivals along with a complete self-declaration form. The form will have all the information including the travel details of the travellers within the past 30 days.
According to Julia Farrugia Portelli, Malta's Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection, Malta’s officials have been working hard all the time during the pandemic to make sure that the country remains the safest destination. She also said that the opening of the Malta International Airport will help the country’s tourism and economy.
The Ministry and the Malta Tourism Authority have decided to work together to market the country and plan interesting things to attract tourists in coming months.
The announcement comes after European Union (EU) countries started to lift travel bans within the bloc, proposing a gradual lifting of the external travel ban from July 1. Several EU destinations have already lifted their travel bans.
