Talk of the town: The tower hosts an annual BASE jumping event, attracting about 40 participants who dive, flip and hurl themselves from the top.

It lost its reign as the tallest tree in the jungle when the Petronas Twin Towers went up, but that hasn't shaken the roots of KL Tower (also known as Menara Kuala Lumpur). The views from the 900-foot observation deck are still the best in the city, and the tower's central location makes it a perfect place for visitors to orient themselves.
The tower's annual race gives the fit and the foolish a chance to dash up the tower's 2,000 plus steps. This along with the zip line that's open for everyday adventure give the KL Tower a sense of fun that is lacking at the more corporate Twin Towers.

When you get back to the ground, take a walk around the Bukit Nanas Forest—one of the oldest reserves in the country—which lies at the tower's base. Nearby, The Animal Zone houses a collection of rare and exotic creatures, and 1 Malaysia Cultural Village features replicas of traditional Malaysian Kampung dwellings.
