5 European experiences so clichéd that they are worth it

Went to Switzerland but skipped a fondue feast? Well, that quite does not sound like a perfect trip; right? There are some clichés so clichéd that there is no skipping them; be it a cable ride to the top of Mount Titlis or a kiss under Eiffel Tower, Europe has clichés abound. Here is a quick list of our favourites if you are thinking of what to do when in Europe.

Cable ride to Mount Titlis in Switzerland
The credit to this goes to all the Yash Raj films that we binged on as kids. Right from Chandni to DDLJ, there was no escaping Switzerland. Once there, you will not be able to skip a cable ride to the top of Mount Titlis. A fascination for most of the first time visitors from India, the mountaintop will greet you with piping hot Indian samosas! As clichéd as it might feel, a cable ride to Mount Titlis is a must-do in every Switzerland trip.
Chasing Northern Lights in Norway
A trip to this faraway country to catch the sky on fire is totally clichéd yet absolutely worth it. One look at the sky lighting up in ethereal colours is enough to make you want to go again, and pitch a camp there till eternity. With tourists making a beeline to capture this phenomenon on camera, and customised tours coming up for the same, it is of course clichéd. But then, you really cannot have a travel bucket list without this one.

Coffee in Vienna
When in Vienna, get a coffee (or more). Coffee is so inherent to Vienna’s culture that it is considered an extension of everyday life here. It is believed that Vienna is home to 52 different brews, Melange being the most traditional and a clear favourite. A must-do if you are into outdoor cafes and typical cobbled streets.

An evening at the Eiffel Tower in Paris
When on a date with Paris, spare an evening to watch the Eiffel Tower in all its glory, lit up so beautifully that it will take your breath away. It stays lit till 1 AM every day, sending light beams from its top! A fascinating sight, it is best watched from Place du Trocadero. Cliched yes, but absolutely worth it.

Abbey Road Crossing in London
This one is the epitome of all clichés, but its connection with the Beatles will still make you go for it. An ode to that era of music, this regular traffic crossing in London could not have been less regular. Go here with three friends in tow for that perfect photo; come back home, get it printed and framed. You will have a worthy conversation starter for many parties to come.
