Railway Minister Piyush Goyal recently announced that the ministry will be renovating a few railway stations in India to make them match the world standards.
According to the statement released by the Ministry of Railways, the renovated station will be equipped with facilities like non-conflicting entry/exit to the station platforms and sorting of arrival/departure of passengers.
The railway stations will also be taking into account the existing modes of transport. International signage will be set up for foreign tourists. Also, for improving the safety of the passengers, the circulating area enclosing the station will be lit up well. In addition, passengers will get enough options for pick up, drop and vehicle parking.
As of now, two railway stations are reportedly under renovation. These stations are Gandhinagar (Western Railway) and Habibganj (West Central Railway) railway stations. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Railways has given contracts for the renovation of Gomtinagar (North Eastern Railway), Bijwasan (Northern Railway), Anand Vihar (Northern Railway) and Chandigarh (Northern Railway) railway stations.
