Lodurva

Lodurva, known for its Jain temple, is a small village 15 km from Jaisalmer. It was once the capital of the Bhatti dynasty before Jaiswal founded Jaisalmer. Built originally in the 12th century along with the town, the temple was ransacked several times by invaders, including Muslim rulers, and was rebuilt in the late 1970s. An extensive restoration work was done in the early 2000s to restore its former glory. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parsvanath, the 23rd Jain Tirthankar. Though in ruins, the grandeur of the temple is clearly visible. The carvings on the stones, the jaali work that creates beautiful play of light and shadow, the majestic ‘Tree of Life’ and the rich history of the place make it a must-visit for people travelling to Jaisalmer.
