Faulkner House

Hidden away in the maze of narrow lanes and alleys of French Quarter is the quirkily named Pirates Alley. On either side of the road are old and pretty pastel-coloured Spanish- and French-style buildings that sit closely with their balconies spilling over with potted plants and flowers. Almost in the middle of the lane is a narrow building with a tiny board stating Faulkner House Books. This was apparently where William Faulkner once lived, wrote and entertained. Lovingly restored and displaying a collection of eclectic books, this place has also become a kind of museum as it displays some rare books and first editions. It is now frequented by bibliophiles who adore not just Faulkner but also applaud and support independent book stores.
