Lahaul-Spiti under heavy snow blanket, yellow warning issued, scholars stuck

The gorgeous Himachali destinations Lahaul-Spiti and Narkanda have turned all white and beautiful after receiving the first spell of snow. The snowfall happened due to the Western Disturbance prevailing over Afghanistan and nearby regions. Life at high altitude regions has come to a standstill because of this.
Amidst all this, a group of 12 people that includes 10 scholars is reported stuck in the Sissu region of Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh. As per sources, the scholars were there to study a World Bank-funded government project. These scholars were there to study horticulture development project. Their project began on 23 November and was supposed to end on 27 November but the group got stuck because of sudden spell of snow.
These people have been deputed by the state government to study a horticulture development project from November 23-27, but due to heavy snowfall the officials have been stuck.
The schools in the affected areas have been shut down from the order of district administration while India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow-coloured warning in the region.
Eight districts that have received the warning are Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. These areas might also receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms.
